Dallas-based LightPath Communications is seeking highly motivated recruits for multiple Telecommunications Field Engineer positions. The role of a Field Engineer in Telecommunications is to gather and assess crucial system information for a variety of outside plant networks, including CableTV, Fiber Optic and Telephone networks. Some of the types of projects we perform include Strand Mapping, System As-Builts, Network Extension Planning, City & DOT Permitting, Pole Permitting and Windloading, Small Cell Site Surveys, Fiber Optic Backhaul Engineering, Site Plans, and More!

Field engineers are akin to land surveyors and use a variety of similar tools, including measuring wheels, height measuring sticks, distance measuring lasers, underground locators and more. Most of the work we perform is done in an outside environment, with much of our time spent following, observing and recording information directly in the field.

Travel is a key part of our line of work, as we are going to where cable/telco companies need to gather information about their systems for the purposes of upgrading or building new networks in those areas. While we typically stay within south and mid-west regions of the U.S., projects have already taken us as far away as the U.S. Virgin Islands in the past, and may offer opportunities around the world as our company continues to grow and the demand for these services continues rise over the coming years.

Although Telecommunications Engineering is a highly specialized field, it draws upon a variety of basic skill-sets that you may already possess, including visual observation/detection, problem solving, penmanship, hand drawing, basic math and more. The opportunity to earn increases with the willingness to be diligent in your work while traveling. Time spent in the field is valuable and lucrative, offering us the flexibility of earning more within less time, and allows us to return home regularly with everything we need to provide for ourselves and our families. This is not a "9-5" job, it truly is an adventure! You will see and experience more of the areas in which you work than you likely ever have before. The work we perform offers not only opportunity to learn about the networks we document, but also about the people and places where we are traveling.

If you are responsible, self-motivated, enjoy the outdoors, have a strong work ethic, have a desire to travel and see more of the world, and are willing to learn and grow with us, this may be the position you've been looking for! We currently have training positions available, and we are looking for recruits to start immediately on a projects in Texas, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Georgia, Florida, California and Iowa. If you are selected as a training candidate, we will train you on each new type of work you are asked to do, and can provide all specialized equipment necessary to perform the task.

These are "1099" independent contractor positions, however, the company does have plans to open up permanent W-2 employment positions with benefits within the coming year, including field engineering technicians, team leaders, quality control engineers, and project supervisors. Priority for those positions will be offered to team members who have already proven themselves to be reliable, trustworthy and committed to the company. We look forward to meeting with you soon!
